Panko uses a small set of nouns consistently. Learning them once makes the rest of the guide much shorter.

The chain

  • Inquiry — an unqualified request, usually from your public inquiry form.
  • Event — a date, a venue, a guest count, and a client. Created when an inquiry is qualified.
  • Proposal — priced menu and service selections drawn from your catalog.
  • Contract — the proposal plus terms, sent for e-signature.
  • Event order (BEO) — the operational document the kitchen and floor work from.
  • Invoice — one or more billing documents attached to the event.

Each step carries the previous step's data forward, so a menu change late in the process shows up everywhere it matters instead of in one document you have to remember to update.
